Personal log

Following an attack on Wolfe perpetrated by none other than his sister Jessika, both his personal security force and the ATF have stepped up their guard. What does this mean for me? That my life has become all the more ridiculous. Yes, I want to serve my country. Yes, I want to protect the innocent. And yes, I sure as hell want to find the bastard that killed my sister... but I'm starting to wonder if this is the right way.

Wolfe seems sincere. He seems like he's everything we wanted. The perfect leader for our times. But... I don't know. The way he has us running around chasing vague recollections has become tiresome. We're jumping at shadows. It's not going to be long before some moron (and the ATF is full of them) shoots someone they shouldn't have. It's not like we have anything else to do. Since this agency was established, we've only captured half a dozen of these so-called "hunters". If Wolfe is right, there's at least a hundred or more left out there just in the US. And they know how to hide.

Well, except for Jessika. She walked in there bold as brass. I admired that, but that didn't stop me from aiming center mass and pulling the trigger. She managed to get away (which of course I was blamed for) but I saw a car zip out of sight after a brief stop at the mouth of an alley, so there's a chance she had help. All their "she can't have gotten far" bullshit slowed me down, so I wasn't able to pursue. Figures.

It might be time to take this fight down to their level. Guerrilla warfare isn't pretty, but it is effective.

personality
He's basically a good guy. He plays things close to the vest, but he's friendly and sympathetic with others. His humor is dry and he's just dandy with keeping his own company, though he does have friends and hangs out with them frequently.
Derreck is one of those men that will always do what they think is right, whether that be legal or not. For the better part of his life his desires have been on the same side as the law, but it wouldn't take much for that to change... especially as more details surrounding the unfortunate death of his sister begin to surface.

history
Derreck was born in Boston to devout Catholic parents Fred and Margaret Ecksley. He had a little sister named Jessica who, when she was 13, became possessed by a demon. Fred and Margaret got Father Donahue to call in an exorcist, but the demon would not budge. Instead it lashed out - attacking the priest, giving Margaret a black eye, and breaking Fred's arm. She then promptly jumped out the window and disappeared into the night. The family put out posters and filed a police report, but there was no sign of Jessica for months. Then they received a phone call from the coroner's office in St. Bernard County, Louisiana saying they think they found their daughter's mutilated body.
Derreck was never the same after that. The incident had instilled in him a deeply held desire to stop evil from happening, but the only way he could see to do that was to join some form of law enforcement. He attended Quantico before enrolling in the FBI as a special agent. On the surface he was the model agent: he followed orders, showed initiative (but not too much), and was well liked by his peers and superiors. But underneath that he was almost feverishly searching for what really had happened to his sister. He secretly feared it wouldn't be long until his desire for vengeance would override his FBI programming.
